  • Modern Woodman fundraiser for DeAnn and Bob Stilley was a success. Members of the Modern Woodmen of America Chapter 10696 recently helped raise money for the Stilleys by helping with a fish fry held at the Murphysboro Elks.
The event, held on January 11, 2014, matched funds up to $2500 by Modern Woodmen’s home office through the organizations Matching Fund Program. The money will be used for household items lost in the fire.
The Matching Fund program offers Modern Woodmen members nationwide the chance to show their support for a community cause, organization or individual in need by holding fundraisers. Modern Woodmen matches money raised up to $2500. These fundraising projects contribute more than $6.5 million to community needs nationwide each year.
Coordinated by local Modern Woodmen members, chapters provide opportunities to connect through social activities.
For more information about the local chapter and how you can get involved, contact Donald Svanda at 618-687-1235.
As a tax-exempt fraternal benefit society, Modern Woodmen sells life insurance, annuity and investment products not to benefit stockholders but to improve the quality of life of its stakeholders--members, their families and other communities. This is accomplished through social, charitable and volunteer activities.
Annually, Modern Woodmen and its members provide more than $23 million and nearly one million volunteer hours for community projects nationwide.
