The 39th running of the Cairo Levee Footrace in Cairo, Illinois will be on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008 at 11 a.m.
The Cairo Levee Footrace is the oldest footrace in southernmost Illinois.
As always there will be two races run simultaneously, starting at St. Mary's Park - 5,000 meters (3.1 miles) and 10,000 meters (6.2 miles) - and running mostly on gravel roads on the Mississippi River Levee. The courses are measured and marked.
There will be a $18.00 entry fee ($8 for students grade 12 to senior citizens). Long-sleeve commemorative shirts will be give to all entrants. Awards wil go to overall winners and winners in each of the 28 age/gender categories in each race.
Free refreshments will be available after the race.
Race Day registration begins on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Park on 28th Street in Cairo. The race begins at 11 a.m.
