The 2008 Lions "Candy Days" have been set for Oct. 10 and 11, and Oct. 17 and 18 and as in previous years, we need your help in order to help fund our numerous local and statewide projects. Most of you are aware that the primary work of the Lions is in eyesight and hearing conservation and treatment, as exemplified by the purchase of eyeglasses, and support of the Lions of Illinois Foundation programs such as screening clinics and treatment of eye and ear disorders.
We also serve our community through our "Shop with a Lion" for disadvantaged elementary age children at Christmas at Wal-Mart, and support of the Murphysboro High School with scholarships, and funding for the Crimson Express, Seniors Night Out, and the Key Club's Easter Egg Hunt. We also contribute to the Christmas Dinner for senior citizens.
A case of candy mints that we hand out to those who make a donation during our street solicitation on the above dates, costs $75.00. Please help the Murphysboro Lions by underwriting all or a portion of a case of mints for this important project.
