The Friends of Murphysboro Foundation is following up the success of their second annual Shawnee Hills Wine Trail Arts Festival with the news of yet another fundraising event, 'Ladies Night Out', to benefit the establishment of Southern Illinois’ first off leash dog park.
Ladies Night Out will feature three floors of vendors that cater to women interests including jewelry, health care, beauty, lifestyle and home products. There will also be great opportunity for women to get advice from experts in the subjects of womens' health, nutrition, fitness and finance. New job opportunity is also an attraction at the event, as many of the leaders in the industry of home product sales will be present and looking for recruits. Patty Bateman lead organizer for Ladies Night Out and the dog park project said, "This is an opportunity for women to take a night out for themselves to have a glass of wine, get a massage, purchase new items, and maybe even walk away with a new career...this is an excellent job networking event." No dog park fundraiser would be complete without products and services that center around your favorite canine companions needs, including: treats, toys, health care, training, grooming, adoption, and nutrition. Many products and services are not available in the immediate area, making the event a chance to see different things. The beautiful Murphysboro Event Center, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is the location of ladies night happening Thursday, July 30th 2009, from 6:00pm-9:00pm. "The architect who designed the event center building is the same architect that designed the band shell at Riverside Park," said Jason Pinkston of the Friends of Murphysboro. Tickets cost $15 at the door or can be purchased in advance at a 20% discount at area First Southern Banks. Admission price includes complimentary wine tastings from Southern Illinois wineries. Attendees can also enjoy sample foods from area restaurants, product demonstrations and hourly door prizes. "We are excited about this event because it will bring new job opportunity to the area, it is showing off one of the great structural treasures in Murphysboro, and its raising money for the dog park, everybody wins", said Pinkston.
Since the nearest off leash dog park is located in O'Fallon Illinois, The Friends of Murphysboro are working to establish a safe off leash dog park for Southern Illinois in the city of Murphysboro. "A dog park is something that will really benefit all of Southern Illinois, not only Murphysboro", said Bateman.
