Ahead of schedule would best describe spring enrollment at John A. Logan College to date.
Terry Crain, Dean for Student Services, said today that spring semester enrollment numbers are up approximately 400 compared to the 2009 spring semester.
“Last year on this date, we had an enrollment of 5,266, and as of today we stand at 5,631,” Crain said. “We should be able to hold that increase, even though we are discontinuing registration a day early this year.”
JALC President Dr. Robert Mees said he is pleased with the early returns.
“In the spring of 2007, for example, nearly 300 Maytag employees enrolled for the first time at the college, and as a result, our enrollment went over the 6,000 mark. To maintain that growth and continually exceed projections even now that those former Maytag workers have graduated, tells me that more individuals recognize that Logan is the place to turn for training and retraining in this economy.”
Logan’s 2009 fall enrollment eclipsed 7,000 for the first time in school history. Spring enrollment is traditionally less than fall enrollment. A complete breakdown on enrollment numbers will be made available within the next couple of weeks.
