The case of accused bank robbers James D. Gaddis, 27, and Anthony Mitchell Fike, 35, has been held over until another case management hearing May 6, 2009, at 1:00 p.m.
State’s Attorney Mike Wepsiec said the state is “nowhere close” to being ready to present its case, and asked for roughly another 60 days to prepare.
Gaddis’ attorney Bryan Drew agreed with the request for more time, saying they too were “not anywhere close.”
Gaddis and Fike are accused of robbing the First Southern Bank located at 2500 Murphysboro Rd last October 9. Gaddis was a Carbondale police officer at the time, and is alleged to have used his service weapon in the commission of the crime. Both Gaddis and Fike are free on bond.
