Janet Caraway and Karen Rahming had their annual piano recital at the First Baptist Church in Murphysboro on Sunday, Dec. 11. There were 13 students performing Christmas carols by not only playing solos on the piano, but also several performing duets with their instructor. There was also a reading by Clayton Berger as well as a vocal selection by Brooke Phillips.
Caraway and Rahming have been teaching in Murphysboro for 20 plus years, and enjoy getting to know and teach students in the community. They both grew up in Murphysboro and have attended First Baptist Church as children. Caraway and Rahming had been classmates since junior high school.
Merry Christmas to the community and everyone who helped make this Christmas Recital happen: Jesse Boudet, sound system; Add Roosevelt and friends, DVDs and photos, Jennifer Phillips, newspaper coverage; Autumn Alten, help making programs.
Each student is an inspiration. Everyone has a unique inner light like a star shinning bright in darkness. Students, let your light shine everyday in some special way for those around you. A Christmas wish for our students is that each of you find a quiet time this holiday season to allow the true meaning of Christmas to enter your heart and share it with others in 2012. Make the joy and peace with Christ fill you in this season and always.
