William R. “Bill” Futrell, age 76, of Carbondale, died at 11:08 AM, Friday February 5, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
William was born on September 8, 1933 in Carterville, IL to Floyd and Bertha (Jackson) Futrell.
He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He was an operating engineer for local 318 out of Marion, IL for many years. He was a member of the Shekinah Masonic Lodge # 241 in Carbondale. He was also a member of the Jackson Co Shrine Club and Ainid Shrine Temple in E. St. Louis. Former President of Fraternal Order of Eagles Club # 2569 and a member of American Legion in Murphysboro and VFW post 7190 in Carbondale.
He is survived by his daughter Michellenea Lynett Futrell of Murphysboro who say’s she will catch up with you later Daddy!; 2 grandsons Jeremiah Childers and Joseph Childers of Murphysboro; 1 Brother James Futrell of Cambria; 3 Sisters Sarah Maxine Collins of Marion; Bonnie Mae Thomas of West Frankfort and Edna Lucille Oberhau of Jacksonville Beach, FL. Nieces, Nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers Floyd and Charles Futrell.
Funeral Services for William R. Futrell will be Tuesday February 9, 2010 at 1:00 PM in Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home with the Rev: Jim Grant officiating with military rites conducted by VFW Post 7190 & 2605, American Legion Post 127 and DAV Chapter 69.
Visitation will be held Monday February 8, 2010 from 5-8 PM at Crain Pleasant Grove Murdale Funeral Home with a Masonic service at 7:00 PM
