Robert D. Krawczyk, age 78, passed away at 3:16 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at his residence in Murphysboro, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2009, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Shaker Samuel and Father Gary Gummersheimer officiating, and burial will be at St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jackson County Historical Society or the St. Andrew Cemetery.
Robert was born on November 19, 1930, in Cora, Illinois, to Stanley Krawczyk and Hyacinth (McLaughlin) Krawczyk.
He had served in Company A, 135th Engineers, 44th Infantry Division of the Illinois National Guard.
Bob was a retired letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. He had the same route for 25 years inwhich he walked twelve to fourteen miles a day.
Mr. Krawczyk was a member of the First Baptist Church in Murphysboro, and a member of the American Legion Post # 127, Ducks Unlimited, and the Jackson County Historical Society. He was a life long member of the North American Fishing Club.
He married Pat Van Cloostere on July 28, 1956, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Murphysboro, and she survives.
Other survivors include two children and their spouses Steve and Lisa Krawczyk of Peru, IN, and Annette and Russell Greer of Pinckneyville, IL; one grandson Nicholas Greer of Pinckneyville; two sisters Patsy Ann Burton and her husband Robert Burton of Springfield, IL and Doris Marie Wisely and her husband Norman Wisely of Murphysboro; two sister in laws Susie Krawczyk of Swansea, IL and Marceil Steele and her husband John Steele of Pahrump, NV; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by one brother Gerald Krawczyk and his parents.
