James C. Hurt, age 66, of Carbondale, died at 7:28AM, Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
He was born on March 1, 1943 in Carmel, CA to James Russell and Ida Marjorie (Christenson) Hurt. He married Mary Spencer on July 1, 1976. She survives him.
He was a member of the Bahá'í Faith. He retired after a career in retail in 2005. He ran the Hurt Womens’ Apparel Stores and managed the Bahá'í House of Worship Bookstore, in Wilmette, IL.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of Carbondale; three daughters, Kristin Brand of Cincinnati, OH, Bethany Hurt and Lilianne Hurt, both of Carbondale; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Kelly Murphy, in 2005.
Private graveside services will be held at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. A Remembrance Gathering will be held later.
