Mr. George A. Darnstaedt of Nashville, IL, formerly of Neunert, IL, departed this life at Washington County Hospital in Nashville, IL on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 4:44 PM. He had attained the age of 98 years, 10 months and 24 days.
Mr. Darnstaedt was born on February 13, 1911 at Jacob, IL the son of John and Paulina (Hoehlein) Darnstaedt. He was united in marriage to Helen K. Rathjen on December 8, 1934 at Jacob, IL, and she survives his passing.
George was a lifelong farmer and was an active 4-H leader in Neunert, IL. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Neunert, IL where he served on the usher staff and was a member of the Mens Club. Upon moving to Nashville, IL, he and his wife joined the Trinity Lutheran Church in Nashville.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Helen Darnstaedt of Nashville, 3 children, Carolyn Guetersloh and her husband Roger of Murphysboro, IL, Merle Darnstaedt and his wife Sue of Nashville, Cliff Darnstaedt and his wife Joyce of St. John IN; 9 grandchildren, David Guetersloh Jim Guetersloh, Curt Guetersloh and his wife Kim, Dale Guetersloh and his wife Lorrinda, Greg Darnstaedt, Tracey Haselhorst and her husband Mike, Chris Darnstaedt and his wife Alecia, Gary Darnstaedt and Deana Darnstaedt; 15 great grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relation and friends.
He was preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Gustav and Edwin Darnstaedt; sisters, Christine Leimbach, Ida Meister, Esther Browsky, Flora Verseman, Rose Verseman
Funeral services will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Nashville on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 11 AM with Pastor Timothy Scharr and Associate Pastor Russell Johnson officiating and interment at the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home on Sunday from 5 PM until 8 PM and on Monday from 7:30 AM until 9 AM and at the church from 10 AM until the service hour.
Should friends desire memorial contributions can be made to the Trinity Lutheran Deficit Reduction Fund and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
