Virginia Lee Lence, age 74, of Makanda, died Sunday, February 14, 2010 at her home.
She was born on April 20, 1935 in Carbondale, IL to Ernest Lee and Ruby (Thomas) Rushing.  She married Jerry A. Lence on April 17, 1956.  He preceded her in death on January 12, 1994.
She was a member of Cottage Home Church in Carbondale where she was in charge of church bulletins.  She retired from Sears after 23 years in the home décor department.  She loved to fish and bowl with her husband and make quilts. 
She is survived by 1 daughter, Tonya Lee (Danny) Smith of Carbondale; 1 son, Gerald Dwayne Lence of Carbondale; 4 granddaughters, Candice (Hank) Hamilton and Ashley Smith, all of Carbondale, Nicole Lence of Marion and Patricia (Joe) Easley of Bluford, IL; 3 grandsons, Ian (Beth) Williams and Colin Williams, all of Carbondale and Jereme Lence of Marion; 7 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Everett (Anna Mary) Rushing of Carbondale; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00PM, Tuesday, February 16, 2010 and from 10:00 – 11:00AM, Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home, Old Rt 13 between Carbondale and Murphysboro.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home with Rev. Tommie Monroe officiating.  Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to TIP Hospice or the Kidney Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home.
