Hi,
I hope you all a happy Thanksgiving. I know I did.
I had a houseful on Thursday and Friday, and we all enjoyed the days with each other. Most of them were from out of town, including my three daughters and their husbands, great grandchildren, grand daughters, one grandson, and nieces. We had turkey and dressing, and the rest of the works on Thursday. On Friday, we had ham, vegetables, and more desserts. The girls and I went out of town on Saturday and enjoyed a visit with my son.
We had a very good dinner at our Senior Citizen Center on Nov. 17. It was turkey and dressing, and all of the works.
I'm writing this on Sunday, and it's pretty chilly here. So does that mean winter is on its way? According to the forecast, it's supposed to be the 40's all week.
I hope we have a mild winter. At my age I hate cold weather, and all of the snow and ice that usually comes with winter. But I guess I'll just have to take what we get.
I remember going up and down the hills when I was a mail carrier on route one. It was real pleasant in the summer, but wasn't much fun in the winter with the ice and snow.
I've just about got all of my Christmas shopping done, and I am so glad to have it done. I didn't go out on Black Friday because I don't like to get with crowds of shoppers. I guess I'll get my tree and Christmas decorations out this week.
My gem... Better to stumble with your toe than with your tongue.
Today, I'm running something that was in the paper some time ago. I got a request to put it in again...
HONK IF YOU
LOVE JESUS
Got a letter from Grandma the other day. This is what she wrote:
The other day I went up to a local Christian bookstore and saw a "Honk if you Love Jesus" bumper sticker.
I was feeling particularly sassy that day because I had just come from a thrilling choir performance, followed by a thunderous prayer meeting. So, I bought the sticker and put it on my bumper.
I was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection, just lost in thought about the Lord and how good He is, and I didn't notice that the light had changed.
It is a good thing that someone else loves Jesus, because if he hadn't honked, I'd never have noticed!
I found that a lot of people love Jesus! Why, while I was sitting there, the car behind me started honking like crazy, and then leaned out of his window and screamed, "For the love of God, go! Go! Jesus Christ, go!" What an exuberant cheerleader he was for Jesus!
Then everyone started honking! I just leaned out the window and started waving and smiling at all these lovely people! I even honked my horn a few times to share in the love!
There must have been a man from Florida back there because I heard him yelling something about a sunny beach..."
I saw another guy waving in a funny way with only his middle finger up in the air. Then I asked my teenage grandson in the back seat what that meant. He said that it was probably a Hawaiian good luck sign or something.
Well, I've never met anyone from Hawaii, so I leaned out the window and gave him the good luck sign back.
My grandson burst out laughing. Why, even he was enjoying this religious experience.
A couple of people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that they got out of their cars and started walking toward me. I bet they wanted to pray or ask what church I attended, but this is when I noticed the light had changed. So, I waved too all of my sisters and brothers, grinner, and drove on through the intersection.
I noticed I was the only car that got through the intersection before the light changed again, and I felt kind of sad that I had to leave them all after all the love we shared. So, I slowed the car down, leaned out the window, and gave them all the Hawaiian good luck sign.
Praise the Lord for such wonderful folks!
Love,
Grandma
