Sometimes you just have to grab life by the neck, give it a good swift shake, and declare: YOU WILL BE GOOD! YOU WILL BE GOOD! I remember watching a morning news program just after I turned forty. They were doing a story on people in their forties, and the statistics they quoted reported that from the age of forty to fifty is the most unhappy time in peoples lives.
They owed that to the fact that people are generally midway through life and realizing that some of their goals will not be met, some of their dreams will not come true, etc. Well, I let that sink in for a moment or two, then I hit my knees. "Lord", I prayed. "Here I am, right where I am supposed to be. Forty! Now you heard what those folks are saying, but I don't want my life to look that way for the next ten years! Help me Lord!"
Then I stood up, and grabbed life by the neck...! The best I can figure, we only get one go 'round here on this earth, and it is God's will that we live our lives gloriously. I am absolutely certain that God in His infinite wisdom would never ever want me to waste ten years feeling miserable about all the things I don't have, haven't done, or don't know! No way!
Created in His image, fashioned by His hand, the world may judge you unworthy, but He has a master plan. I think the key to a good life, a joyous life, a peaceful life, is finding God's plan for you and working that plan! Having a hard time doing that? Well, it helps to read the plan book, better known as the Good Book!
I say forty to fifty is the time to dig deep and find those lost dreams, and set about making them come true! If God placed a dream inside of you to do something good, then He will help you see that dream come true. It is never too late, or too early for that matter, to see your dreams come true! So plant that garden, run for office, start that business, write that book, invent that wheel baby!...Get your life by the neck and shake every bit of good out of it you can get!
